mix one (mp3)

mix one (wav) 28.5MB

Completed List
ALL vocals debreathed/compressed/deEssed/EQ’s initialy
ALL vocals routed
VOCAL roughly evened out

GROUP CHANNELS ESTABLISHED:

  1. VERSE GROUP
  2. HOOK STEREO
  3. HOOK BUS

EFFECTS CHANNELS ESTABLISHED:

  1. Stereo Delay (hook decoration)
  2. 2x Doubler (verse bg)

SONG ROUTING:

ALL vocals routed and bussed to two final channels, VERSE GROUP HOOK BUS. These channels combine with MAINBEAT at STEREO OUT
-7db Vocal avg
-11db Beat avg

Note: These levels are not ideal, the song atm will sound quiter then others more then likely. Even is the primary goal, once even is established we can push levels louder. Trust me. You wanted to learn the process, this is step 1, the initial (quiet) mix.

Problems:

  1. Verses seem a bit bass heavy in parts
  2. ASSHOLE in verse I
  3. M.O. in verse one
  4. Overly bright verse I
  5. AHHHH in verse II
  6. BEAT harsh in mid highs (re: flute)
  7. Hook Needs more eq cuts in the middle range
  8. Vocal spikes still exist… Even up to +1.1 db 🙁

TO DO:

  1. Add Reverb
  2. Assess other vocal spikes visually
  3. Problem review
  4. Assess at full volume on studio monitors in daytime

Possible beat updates:

  1. flute dampened
  2. snare doubled and spread

Overall output levels WILL be pushed after more spiking is eliminated…. (hang in there)
